As we now start our run into Christmas 2016 I hope you will all be able to make time to practice and perform at some of our concerts (look at Concert Schedule section of the site for dates). This is an important time of year for our fundraising but more importantly it is a happy time of year and a chance to bring some lightness and fun to many who might otherwise find the pressures of the season overwhelming.
Our charities for 2016/17 will be decided on the 3rd of November but there is still time to make a nomination through the website or emailing me directly. You will also find all the music, backing tracks and rehearsal schedule available.
Last week, Catherine announced our new sponsor – Shearings Holidays – who will be supporting us throughout the 2016/17 concert season. Shearings are the market leaders in air, coach & touring holidays and they are active supporters of community groups like us. There have been some subtle changes to the website to support our new sponsors and any messages or offers they wish to promote.
Finally – Spring Sing! 2017 will be at Solihull URC on Saturday 8th of April 2017. It is a bit earlier because of Easter holidays etc. More details will be announced shortly.
See you all at the AGM on the 3rd where we will be choosing our new charities for 2016/17 and collecting our last pieces of music – Minka and Cowboy Carol.
Studiously rehearsing for Spring Sing 2016
With only a few weeks to go, the choir have been very busy rehearsing for what should be another great Spring Sing! Jane, the MD, is very pleased with progress and the sound the choir and band are producing especially now that everyone is in their new concert positions. “it is sometimes easy for the singers to loose track of how their individual parts are important or effect the whole song – only I (jane) and the audience get to hear the complete effect”. The following clip was recorded some weeks ago at a rehearsal to give the singers vital feedback on their performance.
Thanks to the kind sponsorship of the choir by Paul Brady from St James’s Place Wealth Management, all the costs for the concert will be met by the choir so all ticket money, collections etc. will go to Age UK (Solihull) and Heartlands Hospital Ward 19. These are both local charities that work within our community and who have supported members of our choir. Tickets for this years concert have been selling well so if you haven’t already got yours then please buy one soon to avoid disappointment!
