Studiously rehearsing for Spring Sing 2016
With only a few weeks to go, the choir have been very busy rehearsing for what should be another great Spring Sing! Jane, the MD, is very pleased with progress and the sound the choir and band are producing especially now that everyone is in their new concert positions. “it is sometimes easy for the singers to loose track of how their individual parts are important or effect the whole song – only I (jane) and the audience get to hear the complete effect”. The following clip was recorded some weeks ago at a rehearsal to give the singers vital feedback on their performance.
Thanks to the kind sponsorship of the choir by Paul Brady from St James’s Place Wealth Management, all the costs for the concert will be met by the choir so all ticket money, collections etc. will go to Age UK (Solihull) and Heartlands Hospital Ward 19. These are both local charities that work within our community and who have supported members of our choir. Tickets for this years concert have been selling well so if you haven’t already got yours then please buy one soon to avoid disappointment!
What an amazing concert on Thursday and a great way to end the year for the choir. It was a pleasure to hand the cheque for £1,800 to Lynne from the MND Association which was half the money raised last year. The choir sounded great as you can tell from these two recordings.
Thanks to everyone’s hard work, the Christmas concerts have raised a total of £740 which brings our current charity fund total to £970. What a fantastic way to end our year and a great way to help this year’s charities – Ward 19 at Heartlands hospital and Age UK.
Merry Christmas and a very happy New Year
Not long now to the 10th and our first rehearsal of Autumn. The website has been busy so I know many of you have not stopped singing over the break. Even so, it’s going to be a bit of a shock to the system singing as a group again after nearly two months.
For those who missed it, our first television interview went well and you can find the footage on Youtube (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fWFg-Zaw13U ). It was a bit scary and the time we had on air was very limited so we didn’t get to cover everything, especially the fact that we need a new drummer for our house band. If anyone has any suggestions then please let me know.
A couple of people have reported a strange pop-up message about hashtag.Ly – this is normally to do with Twitter but we think something has gone wrong with some Apple Mac, Windows 8 machines and Explorer. If you get this warning message then please email me with the details and include your windows and browser version.
Other than that, please remember to print out your music for Thursday. Sue has printed 75 sets which most of you have collected; she’s bringing in the 16 sets remaining to our first rehearsal on 10th, but then she’s away on a cruise from 17th Sept till 3rd Oct, so now’s the time to let her know if you want to reserve a copy. You all know her email address!
Looking forward to seeing you all again on Thursday 10th at 7:30pm and getting back into the singing swing!
