Preparation for Spring Sing! 2015

Sing! Bentley Heath Posted on 14/04/2015 by Bob Manekshaw23/06/2025avatar

The choir have been working hard to get ready for our annual fund raising concert – Spring Sing! 2015.  Our big challenge this year has been learning to sing with a live band rather than just a piano or backing tracks.  “The band is slightly larger than we had planned for originally but they sound really good together and more importantly they add a different feel to the music and complement the choir” said Bob Manekshaw, choir chairman.

Once again, Standley & Co solicitors in Knowle are kindly sponsoring the concert which is meeting the cost of our staging and catering.  This year’s venue, Christ Church URC in Solihull, offers the choir a much bigger and open space so there should be plenty of room for the choir and the audience this year.

Ticket sales are going well for the concert on Saturday April 25th with only a few remaining to purchase online via the website – https://www.singbentleyheath.org.uk/whats/spring-sing-concert/ and we are hoping to raise over £2000 for this year’s charities – Motor Neurone Disease Asssoc and Acorns Children’s Hospice.

Just as a little teaser, this recording (apologies for the sound quality) was made at a rehearsal this year and will give you a taste of the wide range of songs that the choir will be singing. If you haven’t done so already – buy your tickets for Spring Sing! 2015 before they all go!

2014 Choir music is on its way ….

Preparing the Choirs Music

Preparing the Choirs Music

Welcome back everyone and a warm welcome to some new faces who will be joining us this year.

As you can see from this picture, Rosie’s team have been working very hard to organise and collate all the 2014 choir music for you.  Forming a mini production line, all the music had to be individually numbered and stamped before being collated into document wallets ready for you to collect. Our thanks go to Margaret (Thompson), Brenda & Margaret (Harper) for their stirling work earlier in August.

There are 133 sets of choir music – more than enough to go around.  What we do need is a deposit from everyone and for you to make sure all your contact details are correct.  Music can be collected early directly from Rosie (see previous emails and calendar for more info).

A new rehearsal schedule has been posted on the web site along with some new backing tracks which will be updated over the course of this week.  The new season is already starting to look good with a number of small Christmas concerts, festive friends & family and planning well under way for our now legendary Spring Sing! Concert.  With all that in mind, lets get on and sing!
