  1. Just listened to my favourite Carol, Silent Night, it was so so lovely, thank you.

  2. Thank you so much for your support. It was a huge disappointment but hopefully not too long before we can get back together xx

  3. Give me a clue please someone! Where is ‘Sailing’??? Was it a pamphlet /a book or photocopy. I haven’t spotted it on our practise sheets either
    Thanks
    Jill

  4. thankyou to jane for all the hard work she has but into the choir and what must be a bitter disappointment to her with this cancellation. we will all gather together when this crisis is over to celebrate returning to the choir i love so much

  5. Sorry it took some time but it should be done now. That was a good idea 🙂

  6. Hi Bob
Can the comments be listed as most recent first please
I think the 2014 comments at the top may put people off commenting as their views are not at the top of the page and may be unseen
    Thanks Jan Thompson

  7. Hi just a quickie before I go on annual leave to thank and congratulate the committee for arranging the Andrew Carter workshop yesterday
Thought it was excellent and confidence boosting
Look forward to the next one
How do you follow that !!!
    Jan Thompson

  8. I would like to forward an email I have received about the Carnival Band. They draw singers from across the Midlands to back their carol concert each Xmas. They are running two concerts this year, one of which is to be held at the Methodist Church in Shirley. They have a few spaces in the choir so I wondered if anyone would be interested.
Their email says this all a lot better than I have, and gives all other details.

  9. The original tracks were correct but confusing – The Alto track had the sops and bass so you could sing your part with everyone else. To hear the Alto you had to listen to a different track. Anyway, new learning tracks courtesy of Jane and my magic software which has just your own parts in a funny computer voice. Bob

  10. Hello Jane
Just been listening to the rehearsal tracks and I think that for “Total Eclipse of the Heart”, the sop and alto tracks have somehow become reversed.

    Kind regards
    Anne Rudge

  11. Thanks for your suggestion Penny M about the photo – this is something we’re looking into at the moment as that choir photo is rather old now! 🙂

  12. Hi Bob,
Do you think we should have a new choir photo on our web page? We have more men than the present photo shows and the lack might deter more men from wanting to join. Only a thought. Penny

  13. Please Jane, would you consider trying “Heal the world” by Michael Jackson. Firstly the sentiments in the lyrics are very touching, the song is full of wonderful harmonies and key changes, and the melody is sublime.Listen to it on You Tube, the music and lyrics are on the net, it is just wonderful. Happy listening. Harvey

  14. Hope this is as per Jane’s instructions
Please print if you want it for the wedding on Sunday 29th May 2016

    YOU ARE MY SUNSHINE

    1
The other night dear as I lay sleeping
I dreamed I held you in my arms
And now you’re standing right here beside me
Now my dreams can all come true

    CHORUS

You are my sunshine my only sunshine
You make me happy when skies are grey
You’ll never know dear how much I love you
Please don’t take my sunshine away

    2
I’ll always love you and make you happy
And you would only say the same
I will not leave you to love another
And I’ll never forget this day

    CHORUS

    3
You tell me daily you really love me
And no-one else can come between
And I will love you like there’s no other
You have made my dreams come true
    CHORUS

  15. Wow, that’s fantastic, well done everyone. Love the recordings. Bob, can you put some more on please?

  16. At Solihull Hospital tonight the Hospital Padre suggested we warm up with Ding Dong Merrily on High before we split into 3 groups to go around the wards. So we gave her it Sing Bentley Heath style. Her eyes were like soup plates and her mouth was open in astonishment at our delivery. I have never been so proud to be part of Sing Bentley Heath. We travel well! Gordon

  17. Adding to Bob’s comments last evening, urging us to sing at concerts in the community, because a donation is made to our fundraising efforts; it was rewarding and delightful to see the pleasure on the faces our our audience on Tuesday (elderly lunch-clubbers) and to hear their appreciative applause and thanks. As a community choir that’s a stand-alone reason to do it! Thank you Jane, Bob and the committee for enabling us to do it.

  18. I was not at the last rehearsal so it was great to hear bits is the songs the choir will be singing on the 26th. Sounded great.
    Gillian

  19. Thank you for supporting our modest “Holiday Read” book sale last night (17th July). As a result, we’ve added £13.01 to our fundraising total.
Thanks also to Jane and our Committee for an enjoyable evening.
Who baked the angelically light Victoria sponge? It was divine!
    Sue M.

  20. Chris B
Loved every minute and those damn songs are STILL going on in my head and amazingly I’m hitting all the top notes, -for once.! Thanks for the chance to be a part of it all, and to have such an inspirational leader in Jane,- what a bonus.
Even my non musical husband who came to listen was impressed by the standard we’d reached!
    Chris.

  21. Hi all, l’ve had masses of positive feed back and constructive comments. We all gave off such positive vibes on Saturday and one comment mentioned the community feeling bringing us all together. I was proud to be there.
Also proud of the wonderful kitchen helpers…thank- you so much we soon reduced the queues!!!(sorry if l was too bossy) Caz.

  22. Thank you to Jane, committee and fellow singers for giving me the opportunity to be part of such an enjoyable concert. I think one of Sing Bentley Heath’s strengths is that you are so welcoming to everyone and it was a wonderful feeling singing and being part of the evening.
    Debbie

  23. WELL DONE and a massive THANK YOU to EVERYONE – the concert was brilliant and I loved every second. Due to your dedication and enthusiasm we gave an excellent performance. We did more than “pulling it off” – we made it better than good, we made it fantastic! A special thanks to Gill who made countless communications with the church for us; to Liz, Sue and team for making and distributing posters; to Catherine for the press releases and advertising; to Caz and team for the catering; to Ray and team for the manual work of shifting stuff and sorting Front of House; to Royston for his technical expertise and cheeky cheerfulness; to all of the choir for brilliant singing and putting up with me as MD; to the brilliant audience for their support and participation; and of course to our ‘bobtastic’ chairman Bob who puts so much time, effort, wisdom and enthusiasm into making the choir what it is. Well done everyone… onwards and upwards!
    Jane

  24. What a wonderful night we had at the concert last night. After initial nerves I really enjoyed singing and the wonderful atmosphere. Well done to everyone. I have had many comments about how professional we sounded and our excellent choir leader Jane. Well done the young musicians too. I would like to thank Bob, Jane and the committee for all their hard work and anyone else who helped behind the scenes.

  25. wow Jane you were fantastic ,thank you – we greatly enjoyed taking part in the concert under your guidance ,you were professional ,amusing and genuine . After the rehearsal we thought we may have peaked too early with all the adrenalin flowing , but no , there was more to come – after the concert we had to adjourn to the Red Lion to calm down! Many thanks to all who made technically possible . Peter & Elaine

  26. Hi Bob, thank you for your help. I have now managed to log on with no problems. Thanks to your email link, I managed to print the rehearsal Schedule for the Spring concert but only through the email link.

  27. Hi Gillian, Sorry to hear you have had problems today. The logs on the website have only shown one request for a password change so I don’t quite understand what has gone wrong for you today. Please let me know if you have problems again and I will try and investigate further for you.

  28. I had great difficulty logging in and had to reset me password even though I knew I had the right password. Took several attempts to reset it too. The link did not work the first two times I tried it. Sorry but not a good experience today. Never had a problem before.

  29. We had some very positive feedback from the manager of Lady K and the residents who enjoyed hearing us nail Silent Night, I saw Mommy and Wish you a Merry Christmas. If any members of Sing! Bentley Heath has links with other care homes local to the choir and would like us to perform then please contact Jane, Gill or myself and we will see what we can do.

  30. The above website it very good at teaching the basics of reading music, and it tries not to be too American! A ‘fermata’ is what we would know as a ‘pause’. The rest is very comprehensible.

  31. Last night was amazing! However, I think this choir is bad for my health as I got NO sleep last night 1) because I was on a high and 2) because I couldn’t get the blinking songs out of my head!! A very tired MD today…..
