Sing! Bentley Heath returns after the summer break
I hope you all had a great summer and now that its getting colder and the nights are drawing in, its time to meet up with old friends and to exercise those vocal chords and sing.
Thank you all for getting the music back at the end of last season. This was a great help to Rosie and her team and the only problems we had were one complete set missing (if you have it, leave it on the piano tomorrow night – no questions asked), some music books with holes punched in them, a few with writing in pen and one with labels stuck in which wont peal off. The music is our biggest expense and investment and we have spent over £40 per person for 2013/2014 already. Please treat it with respect as we cannot sell, rent out or lend damaged or lost copies.
One big change for us is that the music you will be given on Thursday will be for the whole year rather than a term so there will be quite a lot of it. Please bring a folder to put it in and if you still have copies of Barbara Anne, Do Ron Ron, Good Night Sweetheart and Swing Low, please bring those too. There will be 60 sets of music available which was based on the number of people attending every week – an average of 45. Priority will be given to regular choir members initially and we will make up any shortfall in October if we run out of copies. We will use the folder system again this year for new members and we will issue them with full sets at appropriate times in the year.
Over the summer we have made a number of changes to the website while Catherine and the marketing team have been busy making our presence felt with leaflets, adverts and articles. We are still looking for another accompanist unfortunately so please try and spread the word.
I would like to say thank you to all the people who ran around over the summer putting everything together especially Jane who has organised the music program, rehearsal schedule and bought the music, Rosie and her team for collating and packaging all the music and Ron for completing the accounts and dealing with the bank.
I had a quick chat with Jane tonight and she like me, can’t wait to get back to rehearsals and we both hope to see you all tomorrow night at our normal location (Dorridge Junior School) at 7:30pm.
Regards – Bob
