A Pitcher of Water?
We had great time on Saturday night watching and listening to Pete & Dan recounting the Simon & Garfunkel story in words, pictures and song. The harmonies were fantastic and you could hear a pin drop when they sang – everyone enjoying the sound and resisting the temptation to sing along.
One of their most popular ‘tunes’ had no name for some time, then the working title hymn, and the string arranger misheard the eventual title as “Like A Pitcher Of Water”. Bridge over Troubled water went on to be covered over 200 times and S&G’s favourite version was by Aretha Franklin (have a look at our brief history of the song where you will find both S&G and Aretha’s version). For the rockers amongst you, I thought I would share the Elvis version. Just wait for our rendition at Spring Sing!
