Charity concert raises £476 for Acorns and MND

Bob & Jane present cheques to Solihull MIND and Warwickshire Air Ambulance.

Wow – Many thanks to all the families and friends who came to our concert and gave so generously to our two new charities (Acorns Children Hospice and MND Association) for 2014/15.  It was a great evening and the choir and audience were in good voice.  Sheila and the refreshments team were busy serving mince pies and sherry at the interval, while Rosie did a great job on the tombola. All their efforts resulted in a whopping collection of £476 which brings our accumulator up to £746 and a great start towards our target of £2500.

The concert was also a great opportunity for Jane Perrins (Music Director) and Bob Manekshaw (chairman) to present last year’s charities – Solihull MIND and Warwickshire Air Ambulance – with their cheques.  Both charities are heavily involved in the community and Solihull MIND were especially pleased as the money will be used to support and buy seeds for their garden project in Knowle.

The concert was also supported by Sainsburys and Tesco so our thanks also go to them for their financial assistance.
